Finding the Best Discount Travel Sites
January 21, 2010Jeffrey Peterson No Comments »Discount travel sites aren’t something new anymore, but they keep reinventing the wheel to make things easier and cheaper. Here are a few sites you should look into and some more travel tips you can use today.
Priceline.com and Hotwire.com, which are known as blind sites offer the same services as other travel sites, but have the added feature of allowing you to bid on airline tickets and hotel accommodations.
Some sites are known as blind sites because the names of airlines, hotels and departure schedules are hidden until purchase is complete. Flight tickets are usually nonrefundable and there are no frequent-flyer miles available.
Auction packages from LuxuryLink.com can be gotten at a price 50 percent or more below standard. Although discounts are tremendous, there are limitations on availability and compromises may have to be made in regard to available dates. Auction packages do not offer refunds.
LastMinute.com works with domestic travelers, while LateRooms.com provides services for foreign travel destinations. They aren’t big like the other sites, but their prices are really good.
Foreign travelers are finding that they can greatly reduce costs if they deal with agencies or specific airlines or hotels in the foreign country they intend visiting.
Check on refund policies. Ask questions. Don’t leave anything to chance, especially in a foreign country. Don’t go with the first discount agency you contact. Search around.
It has even gotten to the point where customer reviews are tipping the scale in regard to travel sites, airlines, hotels, etc. Reviews are driving customers to these places. Just be careful. Some sites are paying or rewarding people for good reviews.
Keep an English-foreign language dictionary handy when traveling in a foreign country. Keep important telephone numbers in your wallet or purse, and a copy back at the hotel in case your wallet or purse is lost or stolen.
There are finally some Vistaprint coupons available for you to work with.
