What To Know About Extreme Sports
March 5, 2010Damian Papworth No Comments »Are you tired of playing sports that are not that exciting? Do you seek thrills and exhilaration and want to feel challenged and pushed to your limit? If you think you do, then give extreme sports some consideration.
Activities that have a type of danger in them are extreme sports. They involve things like physical exertion, stunts, special gear, speed, and height. There are three kinds you can do; air, land, and water.
An example of an air sport is bungee jumping. When doing this, you will be tied securely with a cord to something that is mounted and also stable. Then you will jump from a high structure, such as a ledge or bridge. There are people that also prefer to jump from moving things like balloons, helicopters, and planes. Some who participate in this also like sky diving.
Another one is hang gliding. You get to be the pilot for this as you hang onto an aircraft known as a hang glider. You glide and fly in the air by using your feet to launch from. The gliders are constructed of fabric and aluminum. The harness that secures you will protect you and you guide the glider by using the weight of your body.
Snowboarding is an example of a land sport. This is ideal for people who want to experience an activity that live in cold and snowy areas. People snowboard on mountains mostly but there are three other ways too; jibbing and rail riding, freeriding, and by dry slope. Jibbing and rail riding is for those that want to board over rails and obstacles in places such as parks. Freeriding is basically free style, meaning you can board over any terrain you wish. Dry slope is when you board over man made slopes.
A water sport is snorkeling. This is where you swim through water after diving using fins and a snorkel. People tend to go snorkeling in oceans and other large bodies of water. Some do this in order to observe and experience the under water aquatic life that cannot be seen on land. Places where you can scuba dive and resorts usually offer this activity.
With the knowledge you have on extreme sports now, you should be able to decipher if you want to participate. You can do one despite where you live or the weather conditions. There are hazards, but if you train, wear the right gear, and practice, it can be done safely.
